Mr. Mohammad Ali Dehghan Dehnavi Message
Message from the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade and the Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran at the 8th International Fisheries and Aquatics Exhibition.
The fisheries industry is considered one of the key sectors in the country’s food security. Due to its geographical location, Iran benefits not only from the vast Caspian Sea but also from aquatic resources in the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
However, the fisheries industry in Iran is not limited to fishery and wild-caught species. In recent decades, our producers have achieved significant success in the production and farming of various cold-water fish, warm-water fish, sturgeon, cage-cultured fish, shrimp, and more. As a result, a substantial share of the markets in European countries, Russia, China, and neighboring countries is now occupied by Iranian products.
Climate change, water scarcity, and the lack of production infrastructure, including storage facilities and transportation networks for fisheries products, have made the preservation, transfer, and maintenance of these products challenging. It appears that addressing these issues could pave the way for a bright future for this industry in the country. The future of the fisheries industry in Iran is directly linked to how opportunities are leveraged and challenges are managed. By utilizing modern technologies, improving infrastructure, managing water resources sustainably, and expanding international markets, we can contribute to the growth and development of this industry.
